Queen’s Diamond Jubilee June 2012

Friday, November 11th, 2011

Your village needs you

To all Pentyrch ResidentsNovember 2011

Dear Neighbour/Resident/Group Leader/

Queens Jubilee June 2012

We are writing to you in order to judge the level of interest in community celebrations for the Queens Jubilee next year. The late spring bank holiday has been changed to accommodate this event and will be the weekend of June 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. There is an extra day (Tuesday) added to the holiday weekend.

It has been proposed that various activities take place over the Bank Holiday weekend – see the enclosed sheet.

These activities can only take place if there is sufficient interest from the whole village to take part. Three community meetings have taken place to put together activities planned to cost little or nothing to those enjoying the celebrations – we need to know NOW if you wish to take part.

It’s a Knockout –  we need teams to take part – could you or a group you belong to make up a team? Activities can be tailored to the age or agility of those taking part!

Jubilee danceLive band that plays sixties, seventies, eighties music.  Bring your own nibbles and drinks. Door entry fee will be charged.  Adults only.

Paradewalking parade – for the whole village. We hope that some groups will take part as well as individuals – could you or your group suggest a theme? Or can you provide the Royal family!

Walk up the Garth – can we get a bigger photograph than the millennium walk?

Street Party in the car park if the weather is kind in the hall if not. Bring your own or bring to share!

There is no one ‘in charge’ of these events – they are yours as villagers, however in order to co-ordinate the various celebrations, please return the form enclosed to either Eric Priday 7 Pant Glas or Helen Edwards 2 Penmaes. .

Thank you for taking the time to read this – I hope you will take part.
